Getting paid
The published cash out figures for the books on the list, the rails they run on, and the ceiling that is not theirs to set.
The ceiling nobody on this list controls
The most useful sentence on this page is not about a bookmaker. A minimum kyc mobile money wallet in Ghana cannot receive more than GH₵10,000 in a month, cannot take more than GH₵3,000 in a day, and cannot hold more than GH₵5,000 at rest. Those are Bank of Ghana ceilings, effective 2024-03-01, and they apply to the wallet rather than to the account you won the money in.
| Wallet tier | A day | A month | Held at rest |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum KYC | GH₵3,000 | GH₵10,000 | GH₵5,000 |
| Medium KYC | GH₵15,000 | no limit | GH₵40,000 |
| Enhanced KYC | GH₵25,000 | no limit | GH₵75,000 |
The monthly figure is the one that binds. Splitting a large payout across several days does not get round a monthly ceiling, and the two higher tiers carry no monthly cap at all, so an upgrade rather than a schedule is the answer. A null in that column above means unlimited rather than unknown.
Moving money between the three networks afterwards is easy, and that is worth knowing precisely because it is not the constraint people expect. A payout goes to the wallet the account was opened with; what the national switch does is make the choice of network at signup a small one, which leaves the tier as the thing that actually binds.
What the books on the list publish
Cash out figures across the list run from 2 minutes to 20 minutes. None of them was measured here. They are what the operators and their affiliates publish, and on one of the seven the figure is an editor's estimate, which is flagged wherever it appears.
| Bookmaker | Published cash out | Rails it names | Fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| BetFox | 15 minutes | MTN Mobile Money, Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money | none published |
| betPawa | 10 minutes | MTN Mobile Money, Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money | 1% withdrawal fee charged by betPawa; deposits free |
| Betway | 5 minutes | MTN Mobile Money, Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money, Betway MoMo Multifund, Betway USSD, Debit and credit card | none published |
| Betwinner | 20 minutes estimate | not readable from outside Ghana | none published |
| Soccabet | 8 minutes | MTN Mobile Money, Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money, Visa / Mastercard, Prepaid voucher from a Soccabet shop | none published |
| SportyBet | 2 minutes | MTN Mobile Money, Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money, Visa / Mastercard | none published |
| Wiwi Casino | 5 minutes | Mobile Money, Cryptocurrency | none published |
betPawa publishes a withdrawal fee of its own, which no other book on this list does. Several affiliate pages state the opposite, and the operator's own fee page contradicts them.
one of the seven books on the list publish no readable cashier detail from outside the country. On a book of that size that means the cashier sits behind a login, not that there is nothing there.
The rails
Six routes exist in this market and they are not equivalent. One is universal, one is secondary and the route for a large win, one funds an account and cannot pay one out, and one is present at a single licensed operator.
- MTN Mobile Money universal five on the list name it
- Telecel Cash universal five on the list name it
- AirtelTigo Money universal but smallest five on the list name it
- Bank transfer common but secondary zero on the list name it
- Debit or credit card rare, deposit only three on the list name it
- Cryptocurrency one licensed casino, absent from every licensed sportsbook one on the list name it
The levy, and the tax, and why they are two things
Nothing is deducted by government from a mobile money transfer today. The transfer levy was introduced in 2022, cut at the start of 2023 and repealed outright on 2025-04-02 under the Electronic Transfer Levy (Repeal) Act, 2025 (Act 1128), and collecting entities were told to stop the same day and refund anything taken after it.
That is the levy on moving money, and it is separate from the withholding on winnings. Both ended on the same date in April 2025 and they are constantly written up as one thing. A 10 per cent withholding on gross winnings ran from 2023 until 2 April 2025 under Act 1129; the transfer levy ran from 2022 until the same date under a different repealing Act. Neither is charged today, and a sentence that says Ghanaian betting has always been untaxed is as wrong as one that says it still is.
On getting paid
- What actually limits a big win in Ghana?
- The wallet tier, not the bookmaker. A Minimum KYC mobile money wallet cannot receive more than GH₵10,000 in a month or hold more than GH₵5,000, and those are Bank of Ghana ceilings effective from 2024-03-01. Splitting a payout across days does not help, because the binding cap is monthly. Upgrading the wallet removes it, since monthly value is unlimited at the two higher tiers.
- Is there still a levy on mobile money transfers?
- No. It ran from 2022, was cut at the start of 2023, and was repealed on 2025-04-02 under the Electronic Transfer Levy (Repeal) Act, 2025 (Act 1128). Collecting entities were instructed to stop deducting it that day and to refund anything taken afterwards.
- Are winnings taxed?
- Not today. A 10 per cent withholding on gross winnings ran from 2023 until it was repealed on 2 April 2025 under Act 1129. A page describing any period before that date has to carry the repeal, because the tax genuinely existed and was charged on the gross rather than on the profit.
- Can I take a payout back to a card?
- No Ghanaian bookmaker in this research pays winnings back to a card. Cards fund an account at a couple of books and payouts revert to mobile money or a bank. The constraint is card-scheme rather than regulatory.
